Manning turns four with Mario
We had organised a Mario party at a play centre with a sprinkle of friends, but due to restrictions we had to uninvite everyone and celebrate at home. This was Manning’s second birthday in lockdown and after his third birthday we asked if he enjoyed his day and he bluntly replied ‘No’, so I was determined to get a yes this year.
Upon purchasing bits and pieces for his birthday I had an eye twitch thinking about these bold colours. Which I put aside, the day is for him and everything he loves.
He purchased a Nintendo Switch during lockdown and Manning has taken to Mario Odyssey, as much as I would prefer him to be outside playing all day or crafting inside, some days were cold and long, he needed a little inside world of his own and he is an absolute champion at the game.
The day was shared singing, dancing, playing with Bowsers castle, playing remote control Mario cart, playing with Mario hot wheels track, poo practical jokes (after Mia gifted Manning a pretend poo) playing his new Nintendo game and in true Manning style LOTS of cuddles, he even kissed me on the lips at bedtime (ha ha ha).

*Balloons are hard for me because I understand they are horrible for the environment, so we air fill as many as we can, play with them inside for weeks after and place them in the rubbish bin to dispose of them to ensure they are not harming wildlife. Maple is always onto it!
When Manning saw his birthday his face lit up and he had a giant dimply smile all day long, he was very impressed. At the end of the day as we tucked him in, we asked him if he had enjoyed his day. He responded ‘Yes, especially the part where I blew out all my candles.’
